In Guatemala, Hope for Home provides sanctuary and care to those with special needs via family-based group homes for children with special needs, however current resources are stretched thin due to the rising cost of rental housing and expenses of hired staff at each of the homes. Furthermore, it became apparent to the directors that the ministry is limited in its capacity to provide an environment in which children with special needs could live to their fullest potential due to the temporary nature of rental housing and overall lack of wheelchair accessibility.
This burdened their hearts and they prayed to the Lord to fulfill their dream of a large property where all the group homes could exist together in one community. A community where children of all abilities could play and explore not only within family-based accessible homes, but also in a completely accessible community with playsets, gardens, and pathways that allow easy visitation to other homes and gathering together for church services. A community where staff and resources could be shared between houses, reducing overall administrative costs.
In 2023 the Lord provided the funds to purchase a beautiful three-acre property in Parramos, Guatemala, and thus began the process of fulfilling the dream of ‘Community of Hope.’
