As a nurse, my role in the ministry is primarily to help oversee the medical care for the children in the Fulp home (as these are generally our most medically complex children), although I also offer assistance in the other homes when needed. I help to monitor the nutritional status of each child, manage medications, provide simple education to the home’s staff when needed, help to oversee our medical inventory, and provide more acute care when one of the kiddos gets sick. I also work normal “nanny” shifts in the home 5 days a week in a non-medical role, which I really enjoy, as it’s great to be able to spend time with the kids and get some cuddles without constantly focusing on the medical aspects of their care! In my spare time, I’m also working on learning Spanish, although that’s still a work in progress! It has been such a privilege to serve here in Guatemala and get to love on these children of God day in and day out! It’s been beautiful to see how God has called me to live a life of ministry here that I so genuinely enjoy and that aligns with my own gifts and passions.
